Natural reserve "Stolby"

Yesterday we really enjoyed visiting Joshua Tree National Park in California!
We decided to invite you to visit our natural reserve "Stolby". It is a beautiful place too where you can climb rocks and enjoy wild nature. A lot of tourists visit it every day.

Dear Friends,

Stolby looks like a fantastic place to visit and explore! The giant rocks were very impressive. I'm not sure how high I would be able to climb.

Is the reserve near to where you live?

Maybe it is my class' turn to share a nature park near our home...

Dear Mr. Salsich,

Thank you for visiting our blog and watching our video! It takes about 2 hours to get to this reserve from our town. Besides amazing nature and rocks there is a Zoo where you can find animals from all over the world. They have good conditions for living there like in wild nature. It will take the day or more to look at them.

Look forward to visiting your nature park :-)

Dear Lyudmila and class,

What a beautiful site to see! Some of those rocks looked exactly like the granite rocks I just saw in Joshua Tree National Park! It is really important to visit reserves and national parks. Hiking, exploring, viewing nature...it really renews a person! :-)

Your reserve had some lovely trees. I would love to know the names of some of them.

Thanks for a great post!

P.S. It's your turn Mr. Salsich! :-) It's fun to see the differences and similarities between the parks.

I have to say that if I hadn't known of the description and someone had asked me what country this was in I would probably have said the USA as it seems like a National Park. Since its Russia what kind of animals would you find there?

Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Nowadays the area of preserve occupies more than 47.000 hectares. We can find all trees and bushes typical of the taiga: larches, pines, fir-trees, birches, asps, willows, bird-cherries, cedars. I used to walk a lot in taiga in summer. It is interesting but sometimes dangerous because there are a lot of bears there. I saw a bear one day. Fortunatly we both were afraid and ran to opposite sides :-)

Dear Mr Webb,

You are very right that it is difficult to guess without description what country it is.
There are a lot of different animals there. One of the biggest Siberian animals is a stag or a maral. Besides there live such species of deer as the roe and the muskdeer. From time to time bears appear looking for food. As for wolves, foxes and lynxes they seldom appear in the preserve.
