It is cold again - 44C!!! The sun can't penetrate frosty smog. It is really cold even in my classroom. Only three kids managed to come to school today - they live nearby. I'm looking for Christmas activity for my class and would like to find a partner class for skyping - just for 10 minutes conversation about Christmas. [Image]

What colour is it?
We are currently learning colours in English. Our task was to make a magic umbrella. It should be painted in two colours. After spinning it changes its colour. Arsen coloured his umbrella in blue and red. While spinning it became purple.
Liza coloured her umbrella in yellow and red. While spinning it became orange. We had a lot of fun!

Teacher's Day
Every year we celebrate Teacher's Day at our school. School is decorated with balloons, posters and flowers. Traditionally in the morning senior students greet teachers with loud: "Congratulations!!!" On this day students of 10-11 classes teach all lessons. They say it isn't easy! After the lessons they take part in the concert for teachers.

Health Day
Every year in September our school has Health Day. We go to the pine grove and take part in different sport competitions. Our favourite are tug of war and sack jumping. It was fun!!!

The first English lesson
At last I met my new students - because of difficulties with a time-table we couldn't start our learning. They were a bit shy first but when they met our toy cat Jack which helped them to learn "Hello, my name is..., good buy" and played with them ,they became more confident and happy. Hope to put our first achivements on the blog soon.
Autumn
It is autumn now. The weather is cool and windy. It is cold in school because central heating has not turned on yet.

Reading about Misha's adventures in New Zealand
On September 2 students were very excited because they received a book written by our friends from New Zealand about Misha's adventures. It took a lot of time to calm them down.
September 1
Our first day at school was warm and sunny. Everybody was in a good mood and happy to see his friends and teachers again. There were a lot of flowers and balloons. In the end we had a tea party with a cake in the form of lyceum. It was tasty!!!

I think it is great to use Google Earth in the classroom, may be I'll try to do the same.
As for summer - we swam and sunbathed a lot, the weather was too hot. In some regions of our country there were big fires because of it.
Fortunatly, in our place it changed by rains.
Our school starts on September 1 too and I' ll begin preparing for the new school year soon.

Irkutsk
I spent several days in Irkutsk - one of the oldest Russian towns. It is situated on the banks of the Angara river which is the only river starting from the biggest lake in the world - lake Baikal. A lot of foreign tourists from different countries visit this lake and really enjoy its beauty.

Yesterday we really enjoyed visiting Joshua Tree National Park in California!
We decided to invite you to visit our natural reserve "Stolby". It is a beautiful place too where you can climb rocks and enjoy wild nature. A lot of tourists visit it every day.

The craft of poetry
Today we have got a lot of fun writing poems. Students were given several words and they had to create their poems in 5- 10 minutes. Although the poems were "nonsense" we had a lot of fun.

And had a loud, loud laugh
Cause a giraffe was just a half.
I am a snake,
I have a toothache,
Because by mistake
I ate a cake.
I am eating banana
From Havana
And traveling by train
To sunny Spain!

Why does it rain?

Sabina's project "The room of my dream"
The room of my dream
In my room everything will be original. It will be on the tenth floor of a skyscraper which is in the city centre. All furniture will be modern and nice. There will be a big bed and shelves for books and magazines. I'd love to have a lot of toys and flowers in my room. My workspace will have good lighting. I think my room will be very cosy.

My day off
I decided to spend this day off on fresh air. But although I was dressed like a "cabbage" it was cold! However some kids were skiing and sledging.
